Field Notes

Recent observation logs

A running journal from shared club sessions—what we pointed at, what the sky gave us, and what we learned together in real conditions.

06 Oct 2026 · Evening Session

Focus: Jupiter and its Galilean moons

Sky: steady transparency with brief rooftop heat shimmer after sunset.

Europa and Ganymede held clean points for long stretches, and newer members quickly picked up how timing between turbulence can reveal extra detail.

29 Sep 2026 · Courtyard Watch

Focus: Cygnus star-hopping route

Sky: mild haze low in the west, darker and clearer toward zenith.

Using Deneb as our anchor, we traced a simple line-map path that helped beginners move confidently between landmarks without rushing the view.

22 Sep 2026 · Riverside Setup

Focus: Andromeda Galaxy (M31)

Sky: transparent but moonlit, with moderate humidity near the horizon.

Even with brighter conditions, the core remained obvious, and we compared eyepiece impressions to sketch notes to show how patient looking increases contrast.

14 Sep 2026 · Community Lawn

Focus: Saturn ring tilt and Titan

Sky: calm upper atmosphere, occasional thin cloud bands from the south.

Ring separation looked crisp before cloud drift, and members agreed the short comparison between scopes made equipment differences feel practical, not intimidating.
